Support the opening of a Cumbernauld community arts centre to spread the joy of creativity through visual art classes and events.

Creative Space Cumbernauld is a not for profit community interest company, providing creative experiences and activities for the community of Cumbernauld.
ABOUT US
We are the founders of Creative Space Cumbernauld, and with your support, we are excited to establish Cumbernauld’s first multidisciplinary community art space.
My name is Katherine and I am a Scottish artist and the creator behind Braw Artworks. I have a deep passion for cyanotype—a captivating blend of art and science. I combine my love for this unique process with my role as an art and design teacher in Falkirk, while also leading workshops across Scotland to share my expertise.
Grant works at a national level, supporting Scotland’s Care Experienced community. He plays an integral role in my business, supporting both my online presence and in-person events. Grant has also attended workshops focused on developing social enterprises and business skills, further strengthening their shared vision for Creative Space Cumbernauld.
Why?
Whilst Cumbernauld has some arts provision, it does not have a dedicated space which can offer a varied range of visual arts experiences. Surrounding towns and cities have a wealth of private companies, social enterprises and charities who provide a range of art classes and events which we hope to replicate for the Cumbernauld area.
We are proud of our town, and believe in creating a social space for our community.
Our Vision
Art has the ability to transform lives, yet access to it is often limited. Visual art classes offer numerous benefits, whether you're an aspiring artist, a hobbyist, or someone seeking personal growth.
Creative Space Cumbernauld will be a dynamic and inclusive hub for the entire community. Situated in the town's central shopping centre, the space will offer affordable facilities to a wide range of people. It will provide a welcoming and inspiring environment where people can meet, learn, explore, and connect through a diverse range of arts and crafts. We are committed to nurturing creativity, building connections, and ensuring that everyone has the chance to discover and develop their artistic potential.
At the heart of our vision is creating meaningful creative opportunities for the Care Experienced community, empowering them to thrive and express themselves in a safe and supportive space. We recognise that children and young people with experience of care are a community with different needs, expectations and experiences. We want to provide a safe and welcoming space where they can go to be creative.
CLASSES
At Creative Space Cumbernauld, we are committed to nurturing a strong sense of community and supporting the growth of both skills and creative practice. Whether you're a curious beginner eager to explore your artistic potential, someone just looking to have fun creatively, or a seasoned practitioner looking to refine your craft, we will offer a diverse range of classes to suit all levels. Our schedule will include evening, daytime, and weekend sessions, ensuring that there are flexible opportunities for everyone to engage, learn, and develop at their own pace. With expert guidance and a welcoming environment, our classes are designed to nurture creativity, build confidence, and connect individuals across the community.
LOCATION
Cumbernauld is our home and is located in North Lanarkshire, Scotland, about 13 miles northeast of Glasgow. It has a unique blend of old and new, with modernist architecture, green spaces, and a close-knit community. The town has grown over the years and has become a commuter hub for Glasgow, while still maintaining its own identity and local character.
While Cumbernauld may not be at the forefront of Scotland’s art scene, its connection to art is multifaceted. From the long-standing cultural contribution of Cumbernauld Theatre to public art projects and local initiatives, art has played an essential role in the town’s ongoing evolution. The town’s unique architectural heritage and community-driven creative efforts continue to shape its artistic identity, and as Cumbernauld continues to develop, so too will its artistic presence within the wider Scottish context.
Why £9000
We have found an excellent space within Cumbernauld Town Centre that needs a little TLC to transform it into our multidisciplinary visual arts space.
We have been acquiring free furniture and equipment from our community and invested in new items ourselves.
